J-16: Confucius Quote on Work !!

"Find a job that you love doing and you will never have to work a day in your life." Confucius.

I think this quote means when someone can work in a career that he loves, he won't consider himself working since he is practicing something that he enjoy doing it. He may go early in the morning and stay all day long at work full of energy because this job will please him. Consequently, high and significant performance.

The quote is very true. Personally, I'm in a big struggle right now; my major is computer science but I don't really like it and not sure how my future going to be in a profession that I'm not willing to major in. Politics and international relations are very interesting to me, therefore I'm thinking seriously to switch my major to political science to be in a position that I love for the rest of my life.

Many people perhaps are in jobs they don't enjoy. The clues of that are being lazy, complaining constantly and counting days for the weekends and holidays.

The knotted question is: is it possible to love your job when it's involved somethings that you are not interested in? I HOPE IT IS.

Fukue, Natsuko. (2009). Japanese women still hitting a glass and bamboo ceiling in the boardroom. The Japan Times, Retrieved from http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nb20091111a4.html

It's likely that Mr. Fukue used a quote to state his thesis. "The glass ceiling in boards of directors remains in Japanese large companies," Irene Natividad, chairwoman of CWDI, told reporters in Minato Ward, Tokyo.
The claim seems to be Policy.

His argument is appealing to reason 'logos' [better performance
for J-companies to be globally competitive].

Again he used a quote in his conclusion from same person.

What I think:
I think his approach in this argument is weak. His main arguing is to allow women to hold director positions in big Japanese companies in order to be successful and "globally competitive".
Well this claim is obviously not true; in his article he mentioned Toyota as an example of companies that doesn't have even one woman director. Clearly Toyota is one of world's biggest companies, it's 3rd globally according to Forbes ranking. Not only Toyota, but many other Japanese companies are already successful and competing all over the world. In addition, Japan is second largest economy in the world.

J-13: In A Tragic Shooting, 12 Dead and 31 Wounded in Fort Hood, TX

Maria Newman from NY Times has reported that 12 soldiers killed and 31 others wounded in a terrifying shooting in Fort Hood, a military base in Texas.
At 13:30 Central time today, a gunman carrying two guns opened the fire on a group of soldiers in readiness unit, where soldiers receive medical checking before they being shipped overseas; according to Maria. Gen. Robert W. Cone said, top officer in Fort Hood, that the shooter was killed immediately by the police forces.
“There were several eyewitness accounts that there was more than one shooter,” General Cone said. Therefore two other soldiers were put in custody for further investigation. Yet, there is no information about the shooter identity or reasons behind this shooting. Authorities are investigating in the incident to figure out the cause of this terrifying accident.
“a horrific outburst of violence.”, President Obama commenting from the White House, “My immediate thoughts and prayers are with the wounded and with the families of the fallen,” He added. (Newman, 2009)

Journal 12: Source about how public and media effecting one another.

Uscinski, Joseph E. (2009, Oct 15). Social Science Quarterly. When Does the Public's Issue Agenda Affect the Media's Issue Agenda (and Vice-Versa)? Developing a Framework for Media-Public Influence, 90, 796-815.

From this scholarly article, by Joseph E. Uscinski, I will try to understand the relation between media and public and how they affecting one another. The public issues can comprise the media agenda, but most times the media will comprise the public agenda. Mr. Joseph tried to study the influence that drive this relation. He analyzed historical data to come up with his conclusion which give a clue to understand this concept.

In order to make media agenda influenced by public opinion and issues but not the vice versa, I will try to focus on how the events that make public the overpowering side against the media. If that's possible we will decreased the impact that media imposed on us.

Research on Media Power.

I believe that media have a stranglehold power on public opinion. Through my research I want to know how media can shape the public; consequently controls the world. Most people, for example, believe every thing they see on news TV. I don't think that news is showing the whole face of truth because it can be biased. Then masses might be influenced by misleading news which, normally, not for the public benefits but minorities desires. News media could influence on our choices to select decision makers. Hence, in what way we can eliminate the supremacy that media impose on audience.

Journal 7: My best friend..!!

We have different languages, though we are best friend. I have always said if we can't understand each other by language, we will by telepathy. He speaks Japanese, and I speak Arabic..!! But after we have worked together for about 8 months we realized that friendship can be more than a language. For some reason, we became best friend.

I think we have things in common. Both of us are very active and like to laugh, well he might be slightly more but I like that. We're always up to do crazy things and get in an adventure. That was only when it's time for fun. He got married on Nov. 2007 in Japan. I was supposed to be there then, but, and because he will leave the country immediately after the wedding, the plan has changed when he suggested a crazy idea that I meet them during the honeymoon. I did that and share them 2 days of the honeymoon..!!

Most important, we are always sacrificing for one another.

Journal 6: They will complain, when they speak up..!!

Leave me alone to enjoy my own life, stop destroying my habitat, stop using me for your pleasure, and don't hold me in a fake jungle "The Zoo" to satisfy your desires.
I think these words will be the very first things that animals would say when the speak out. Whatever luxury, we think, we can afford for animals, I don't think they would prefer it as much as the freedom to live their lives as they want. Free from all restrictions and rules that human may allocate to them. Think about it is a very simple equation, what would you choose when you have two options; first, practice your entire life in a complete freedom, gain your own things, and make your own choices OR second, don't have choices, and everything in your life would be as someone 'human' wish.

I don't talk in behalf of animals, but for sure most of them will go with the first option; yelling, give me my own freedom and don't interfere in my own world.

Anyway when animals could speak, I will make a lot of friends-animal. But I'm curious whether they would think in the same way we think..!! May be not.
